Meet Nancy ABTRS Clinical Director of Residential Services

Nancy Harkins’s Passion for Substance Abuse Therapy

Her passion for helping families and recovering addicts with therapeutic intervention goes back to graduate school. To see mothers transform their lives with drug and alcohol abuse treatment inspired Nancy to be the facilitator her patients need and in return growth with them.

To experience that transition and to be involved in encouraging others touched Nancy so deeply that she became the Clinical Director of ABTRS Residential Services to continue to make that impact. Her talents and knowledge trickles down to the children of recovering addicts and their children’s children. The impact Nancy has on ABTRS patients is the heart of the company and the true meaning of what it is like to save lives and heal families.

Nancy’s Message to A Loved One Struggle with an Addict

Her message to a loved one who is struggle with a addicted is to practice tough love.

Enabling your loved ones addiction and drug seeking behaviors by giving them money or letting them borrow the car to go get drugs is not helping them but enabling them to continue to abuse their drug of choice.

The best way to show your addicted loved one that you do love them is to stick to healthy boundaries and get them professional help for their addiction.

The Family Component at ABTRS

The family component at ABTRS is very important to us. This disease of addiction and alcoholism isolates, destroys relationships, and rips families apart.

It is important to ABTRS that we reunite family members with their recovering loved ones, help develop communication skills at Saturday Family Workshops, and educate them about their addicted loved ones disease and recovery process.

Saving lives and healing families is important to ABTRS because it is important to the people that work through our door.
